Tigers Lose Heartbreaker in the First Round of the NAIA

The shocked Tigers are headed back to Georgetown after losing 82-79 to Xavier University in the first round of the NAIA National Tournament. The third-seeded Tigers lead by eight at halftime, but spent most of what became their final half of the season fighting from behind. With the game tied at 79 and seconds remaining, Georgetown had the ball and a chance to win, but Craig Schoen's shot was short.

“Our team has to look at what we lost and what we should have won," said Head Coach Happy Osborne. "There’s no excuse, it’s our fault. We just absolutely got beat."

The Tigers end the season at 29-4 and lose seniors Stephen Elrod, Chris Gaither, Chris Lee, Kevin Reinhardt, Craig Schoen and Brian Silverhorn. "It has been a great year and it is just so sad that it had to end this way,” said Osborne. "I hate it for these seniors."
