Tiger Softball Makes History with No. 20 Ranking (3-19-08)

Georgetown College Softball added an entry to the school's record books with a No. 20 ranking in the latest NAIA Coaches' Poll released Wednesday. This is the first time for a Tiger team to be ranked in the Top 25.
"I'm elated and ecstatic and I think it is long overdue and far deserving," said Head Coach Thomas Thornton. "It's a new feeling and I'm trying to get used to it."
The Tigers are rated second in Region XI behind No. 3 Trevecca Nazarene University after losing to them on the road (6-5 and 11-2) before beating No. 17 Martin Methodist (12-6) and narrowly losing to No. 8 SCAD (2-1).
"This is a really special team and I am just thrilled for them," said Thornton.
