Basketball Teams Honored at Conference Banquet; Chase and Osborne Named MSC Player and Coach of the Year (3-7-08)

Senior forward Gus Chase was named the Mid-South Conference Player of the Year at the annual awards banquet on Friday, March 7th in Pikeville, Ky. The Baltimore, Md. native led the No. 1 Tigers in both points and rebounds during the regular season, averaging 18.3 and 7.6 respectively. He currently ranks third in the NAIA in offensive rebounds, averaging 3.9 per game.

Head Coach Happy Osborne was named the Conference Coach of the Year for the second year in a row. Osborne has an overall record of 366-66 (.847) as head coach and is in his twelfth season at Georgetown after serving for 16 years as an assistant under NAIA Hall of Fame Coach Jim Reid.

Other individual honors went to men's team members David Graham and Demetrius Guions and women's team members Jayme Gilbert and Kim Ingle, who were all named First Team All-Conference. Jerry Turner, Amy Schiller and Katie Filiatreau were named Honorable Mention All-Conference.

Academic All-Conference honors went to Ashley Bell, Filiatreau, Ingle, Jon Elrod, Bret Saxton and Kyle Saxton.
