Georgetown Advances to Finals of MSC with 105-99 win over Pikeville; Will face Cumberlands (3-9-08)

Pikeville, Ky. - Georgetown College continued their perfect season with a 105-99 semi-final win over Pikeville College in the Community Trust Bank Mid-South Conference Tournament on Sunday. The Tigers improved to 31-0 and will face the University of the Cumberlands in the championship game on Monday at 1:30 p.m.

The Tigers led by as many as 24 in the first half but had to withstand a strong Pikeville run late in the second half when a pair of free throws and a field goal by Jeff Ferguson cut the lead to five. A bucket by
Anthony Ighodaro with 25 seconds remaining narrowed the lead to three.

"I thought the first half was as good as we've played all season and I thought the second was as bad," said Head Coach Happy Osborne.

No. 1 Georgetown was led by Justin Taylor, who had 26 points and eight rebounds and added two assists and three steals. Point guard Jerry Turner was next in line with 25 points for the Tigers, who had five players in double figures.

Pikeville was led by Ighordaro, the only player with a double-double, and Ferguson who both had 18. The Bears ended the season at 22-9.
