Georgetown College women's basketball coach Andrea McCloskey is excited to announce a Coaching Clinic for Saturday, Sept. 21 at Davis-Reid Alumni Gym.
"As a coach you are always looking for ideas and techniques to rejuvenate your team and staff," McCloskey said. "Coaching Clinics give you that chance to make a new idea fit your program."
Coaches from all levels are welcome to come hear legendary coaches such as Matthew Mitchell, University of Kentucky; Nancy Winstel, Northern Kentucky University; and Michelle Clark-Heard and Greg Collins, Western Kentucky University; as well as Georgetown's own coach McCloskey.
Register by Sept. 13 at a reduced price of $55 or it will be $65 at the door. Lunch will be provided by Made From Scratch.
Mitchell has guided the Wildcats to new heights the past several seasons with uptempo play. UK has had four consecutive 25-plus win seasons, a new school record, and advanced to the Elite Eight three of the past four seasons. He will be discussing transition offense.
Winstel, a Hall of Famer, is the third all-time winningest coach in NCAA Division II history. She guided the Norse to two national titles and was the Coach of the Year in 2000. Winstel will speak on defensive drills.
Collins, who has spent 11 seasons on the sidelines at various schools, along with the help of Hilltopper head coach Clark-Heard, will speak on player development.
McCloskey, who guided the Tigers to its first-ever Fab Four appearance at the NAIA tournament in 2011-12, will wrap up the day with a talk on shooting drills.
A link to register online is on the women's basketball home page in the left hand menu under Coaching Clinic. Register early and reserve your seat.
