Kaleb Lester has played on some of the biggest courses, now he brings that experience to Georgetown College. The North Carolina native signed this past week to play for the Tigers.
Lester finished in the Top 10 of the 2A State Championship recently, which was played on the Longleaf Golf Course at none other than historic Pinehurst. A little over a year ago as a junior he played at Florida's World Golf Village in the Junior American tournament that had 78 golfers from 20 countries. The course Lester played was Pebble Beach, might sound familiar to even the causal golf enthusiast.
"He's played on some major courses and in some major competitions," GC coach Flash Williams said. "I'm extremely pleased he signed with us and am looking forward to some very good things in the near future for our men's team."
Lester will join sophomore Madison Huegel, who had a standout freshman campaign at Georgetown. Coupled these two with some veterans and the Tigers could do some damage as a team and individually in the 2014-15 season.
Lester is a graduate of Carrboro High School where he was a four-year golfer. He was the 2014 Player of the Year in the Mid-State Conference and medalist at the NCHSAA 2A Mideast Regional Championship.
