Georgetown College men's basketball continues to enjoy the friendly confines of Davis-Reid Alumni Gym. The No. 1 Tigers (8-0) remained unbeaten by knocking off No. 22 Martin Methodist (6-3) 95-75 Tuesday evening.
The RedHawks held a six-point edge in the first half, before GC found rhythm and opened a 43-35 lead heading into the break. MMC came out on a 31-19 run to go up for, 66-62, when the Tigers kicked it into another offensive gear.
Georgetown's next two possessions were three-point bombs from Noah Cottrill. The sophomore found his shooters' eye again, scoring 18 points – four threes and two free throws.
The Tigers trailed by one, 66-65, and Monty Wilson rolled off the next eight points. The senior finished with 33. Dominique Hagans added a two and Deondre McWhorter hit two free throws as GC stretched out to a double-digit lead it never lost.
Hagans, 18, and McWhorter, 12, were the other two double-digit scorers for the Tigers.
D'Angelo Tucker led with 18 for MMC.
Georgetown returns to action noon Saturday against University of Cincinnati Clermont.
