Cross Country's Garnett and Chesser Qualify for NAIA National Championships ; Ewing and Clemons Honored as MSC Champions of Character (11-12-08)

er Cross Country teams finished third
overall in the Mid-South Conference Championship Meet held at Berea on
Saturday.
Junior Britney Chesser finished second overall for the women and qualified for the NAIA National Championships for the third year in a row. Luke Garnett, a junior from Cynthiana, Ky. qualified on the men's side after finishing ninth overall with a time of 28:24 in the 8k race. In addition, Chesser and Garnett were selected as All-Conference runners.
Georgetown College's both Kelley West and Michael Clemmons were honored with the MSC Champions of Character Awards.
Academically, 12 runners earned Academic All-Conference awards, including, Adrienne Bartlett, Stephanie Beatrice, Amanda Bolton, Layne Bush, Chesser, Beth Ewing, West, Michael Bailey, Clemmons, Ryan Farley, Garnett and Nelson Heard

Chesser Mid-South Conference Runner of the Week (10-29-08)
COLUMBIA, Ky. -- Lindsey Wilson College’s David Mutuse and Georgetown College’s Britney Chesser are the Mid-South Conference Runners of the Week.
Chesser finished third at Southeast Classic to earn the MSC Women’s Runner of the Week. The Louisville junior finished the 5,000-meter course with a time of 18:56 in the 150-woman field.
Chesser led the Tigers to a sixth place finish in 19-team field and is a four time winner of the conference’s weekly award.
Chesser Named MSC Runner of the Week for the Second Week in a Row (9-23-08)
Georgetown
Chesser won the Berea College Invitational with a time
of 18 minutes and 52 seconds over the 5,000 meter course. The
Chesser claims her second straight Mid-South Runner of the Week award.
Chesser and Schlueter Honored by Mid-South Conference (9-17-08)
Georgetown
College student-athletes Britney Chesser and Dempsey Schlueter have been
named the Mid-South Conference Athletes of the Week for each of their
sports.
Chesser, a junior from Louisville, won the Centre College Invitational on Saturday with a time of 19:24 over the 5,000 meter course. She outran the 76 individuals and helped the TIgers to a second place finish. The Tigers also received votes in this week's NAIA Coaches' Poll after finishing strongly in the meet.

Schlueter, a senior
punter/placekicker from Dry Ridge, Ky., made all six
PAT's and connected on a 35-yard field goal to earn
MSC Special Teams Player of the Week. In
addition, he averaged more than 41 yards per punt,
including a long of 56 yards and totaled 535 yards
in eight kickoffs in the Tigers' 45-14 win over
Cumberland University.
No. 17 Georgetown is 1-1 on the season.

Women's Cross Country Receives Votes in NAIA Coaches' Poll (9-17-08)
The
Georgetown College Women's Cross Country team received votes in the NAIA
Coaches' Poll released Tuesday. The Tigers are listed at 37th and are
the only Mid-South Conference Team to crack the national poll.
The runners finished second last week at the Centre College Invitational
and finished 48 points ahead of last year's conference winner Lindsey Wilson
College with a team score of 64. Host Centre won the meet with 51 points.
Junior Britney Chesser finished on top with a time of 19:24. Freshman
Mandi Warren finished sixth at 21:25 while Layne Bush, a junior, came in
eighth just 19 seconds behind Warren. Next up for Georgetown is a trip
to Berea for the Berea College Invitational on Saturday.
