Athletics Honors 87 Student-Athletes with Letter Jackets (12-8-08)

Georgetown College Director of Athletics Eric Ward awarded 87 letter jackets to the 2007 Letterman Class in the annual ceremony held Sunday, December 7 at Alumni Gymnasium.

Student-athletes were given jackets for earning their first varsity letter in athletics at the school.  The criteria for being a letterwinner is determined by each sport's coaching staff.

Cross Country's Garnett and Chesser Qualify for NAIA National Championships; West and Clemons Honored as MSC Champions of Character (11-12-08)

                                                                                                                            Berea, Ky. -  Both Tiger Cross Country teams finished third overall in the Mid-South Conference Championship Meet held at Berea on Saturday.

Junior Britney Chesser finished second overall for the women and qualified for the NAIA National Championships for the third year in a row.  Luke Garnett, a junior from Cynthiana, Ky. qualified on the men's side after finishing ninth overall with a time of 28:24 in the 8k race.  In addition, Chesser and Garnett were selected as All-Conference runners.

Georgetown College's both Kelley West and Michael Clemmons were honored with the MSC Champions of Character Awards.

Academically, 12 runners earned Academic All-Conference awards, including, Adrienne Bartlett, Stephanie Beatrice, Amanda Bolton, Layne Bush, Chesser, Beth Ewing, West, Michael Bailey, Clemmons, Ryan Farley, Garnett and Nelson Heard

Chesser Mid-South Conference Runner of the Week (10-29-08)

COLUMBIA, Ky. -- Lindsey Wilson College’s David Mutuse and Georgetown College’s Britney Chesser are the Mid-South Conference Runners of the Week.

Chesser finished third at Southeast Classic to earn the MSC Women’s Runner of the Week. The Louisville junior finished the 5,000-meter course with a time of 18:56 in the 150-woman field.

Chesser led the Tigers to a sixth place finish in 19-team field and is a four time winner of the conference’s weekly award.
