Head Soccer Coach Derek Willis

Derek Willis begins his second season with the Tiger Soccer program this fall.  The 2001 Centre College graduate is a native of the Scott County community of Stamping Ground.  As a goalkeeper for Scott County High he was honored as all-district, all-region, all-conference as the Cardinals and played in NCAA Division III Post-Season Soccer Tournament in 1997, 1998 and 1999 for Centre.           

His coaching career began as a college student when in 1997, he served as the soccer instructor for the Olympic Development Program (ODP) State Camp at Eastern Kentucky University in Richmond. He has also been the site director and senior clinician for Keeperedge from 1997 to present. For the last six years he has been the women's assistant coach at Berea College, a NAIA program, while serving as head boys' coach and social studies teacher at Central Hardin High School for three years. Prior to this head coaching position, he returned to Georgetown as assistant coach at his former high school.  He has also given his time to the Flames Soccer Club as head coach from 2004-2007 and continues to serve as technical director of goalkeeping and assistant coach for Javanon Soccer Club and ODP, exposing him to the state's young talent.

Derek is married to Greshen Jones. The couple have twins, Cannon Cole and Dorian Craig Willis.  Georgetown College Athletics is excited to welcome such an experienced and involved head coach to lead the men’s soccer program.

 

 Assistant Coach Trip Rogers

The Georgetown Men's Soccer Program welcomes Trip Rogers as a second year assistant head coach for the Tigers. Trip has been coaching soccer for the last ten years with many different team, including the girl’s and boy’s teams at Bryan Station High School from 2003 to 2008. He led the girls program to Bryan Station's first district tournament win since 1994 last fall. Trip has also coached for the Paris YMCA Youth Soccer League and the Adena Futbol Club.

“Watching the development of individuals not only as players but as people is most rewarding to me," said Rogers.  "Sports help individuals learn cooperation and motivation for themselves and others." 

The Lexington native graduated from the University of Kentucky in 2003, with a degree in Social Work. He has since worked in construction and facility management, along with his passion for coaching teams and individuals at clinics and camps throughout the year.

Trip is married to Jill Denny Rogers, a doctorate student at UK and the couple has a son, Chance, who is just as active as his dad with baseball, basketball, camping, and hunting.
