Georgetown,
Kentucky is a picturesque town of stone-fence-lined farms, rolling hills
and stately thoroughbreds. With a population of 12,500, the city is
small enough to provide Southern hospitality and a small-town
atmosphere, yet large enough to offer visitors a variety of
entertainment and sights to see.
The
focal point of Georgetown is its historic Main Street, which is lined
with charming older homes and commercial buildings. There are more than
100 buildings in the downtown area listed on the National Register of
Historic Places. Georgetown is known as the "Antique Capital of
Kentucky" due to its abundance of antique stores.
Also, Scott County and five oth
er
counties in the Bluegrass as are often called the "Horse Capital of the
World" and contain the world’s highest concentration of thoroughbred
horse farms.
Scott County is also home to several manufacturers, including Toyota Motor Manufacturing, which employs more than 7,500 and produces the Camry, Avalon and Sienna Minivan.
