Men's Basketball - Thu, Dec. 8, 2011
Central Bank presents the 18th Annual Jim Reid Classic
this weekend for high quality men's basketball action. Georgetown brings in
Life University, Southern Polytechnic State University and Mid-Continent to
battle it out for the tournament title.
In the 17 previous years, the Tigers have won it 16 times
- 15 in a row. Life beat GC in the first round of the 2009 tournament on a tip
in at the buzzer for Georgetown's lone loss ever in the Jim Reid Classic.
"We are very thankful to Central Bank and the Reid family
for helping us put this together every year," said Tiger coach Chris Briggs. "We
have three teams from this past year's national tournament and a very good
Mid-Continent team coached by former UK Wildcat Winston Bennett.
"This is always an exciting tournament and we expect
nothing less from it this year."
Action begins 6 pm Friday as Life and Southern Poly
tip-off. Georgetown follows at 8 pm against Mid-Continent. The consolation game
is at 6 pm Saturday with the championship game to follow at 8 pm.
