Georgetown College women's basketball team made it look easy in a victory over No. 23 Daemen College (11-3) in the Big Easy Challenge.
The No. 20 Tigers (11-3) trailed the Wildcats only once, 5-2, in the first minute of action and opened up as large as a 17-point edge early in the second half. Four players tallied double-digits in GC's 70-59 win Thursday afternoon at Alario Center in Westwego, LA.
Dev King's jumper with 17:57
showing in the first half gave Georgetown
a 7-5 lead it would never relinquish. The Tigers opened up a 39-26 lead heading
into the break. Andrea Howard poured in 11 of her 13 points in the opening
half, and grabbed five rebounds. King got the hot hand in the second half for
10 of her 13 points, but it was the stability of senior Gina Beining's 14
points that helped GC win the battle down low. Chelsey Johnson also came off the bench with 11 points.
The Tigers score 38 points in the paint to Daemen's 34. Georgetown snagged 51 rebounds as a team, helping to 20 second chance points. It limited the Wildcats to just 39 rebounds and eight stick backs.
