Women's Basketball - Fri, Dec. 30, 2011

Georgetown College women's basketball came up short against No. 18 Cardinal Stritch Friday afternoon, closing 2011 action with a 72-57 loss in the Big Easy Challenge in Louisiana.

Frankfort native Andrea Howard scored all of her game-tying high 14 points in the first half and three other Tigers recorded double digits - Dev King (12), Jessica Waddle (10) Devon Golden (10). The No. 20 team even rallied from a 12-point deficit midway through the first half to eventually take a one-point edge when Lizza Jonas converted a traditional three-point play. The sophomore scored the two and knocked down a foul shot for a 44-43 lead with 14:51 remaining.

The Wolves took off from there with a 9-0 run. Georgetown battled back to be down three off, but could never get any closer.

The Tigers have a little more than a week to recover and prepare before getting back into Mid-South Conference action 2 pm Jan. 7 at Davis-Reid Alumni Gym.
