Baskeball - Mon, Jan. 9, 2012
When Georgetown College takes on University of the
Cumberlands, more will be at stake than the Mid-South Conference standings.
Both schools will be helping to raise awareness for
Kentuckians in the southeast region who go shoeless on a daily basis. The
Patriots will be hosting Barefoot for Bare Feet, an event that encourages
coaches and fans to be shoeless during the game. For the women's games, both
sets of coaches will go bare foot to help the cause and hopes the fans will
join them in this effort.
Throughout the night, during both games, there will be
contests for all those in attendance that include giveaways of Wal-Mart gift
cards, a gift certificate to El Dorado's of Corbin, a Nintendo Wii and more. UC's
Campus Activities Board will also be sponsoring the infamous "Dash for Cash"
event. Baptist Regional Medical Center located in Corbin has already donated
over 200 pairs of gently used shoes in support of the cause.
Help the Patriots and Tigers make a difference in southeast Kentucky by attending and going barefoot, bring old shoes or canned
goods to donate, visit the concession stand - where the proceeds will be
donated to the cause, drop off loose change or contribute online. For more
