For the second straight week, a Georgetown College men's
basketball team member earned Mid-South Conference Player of the Week honors.
Maurice Pearson had a pair of double-doubles, giving him
nine on the season, as the Tigers went 1-1 this past week. The senior scored 27
points and grabbed 12 rebounds against Life in an 85-81 loss. He followed that
up with 23 points and 14 rebounds in a 90-67 victory over Shawnee State.
Pearson averaged a double-double for the week, 25 points
and 13 rebounds. He connected on 62.1 percent of his shots, 18-of-29, and 73.7
percent from the foul line, 14-of-19.
The Silver Springs, MD native is second in the MSC in
points per game (19.2) and rebounds per game (10.9). His 68.2 percent from the
field is first in the conference and third nationally.
Pearson ranks fifth nationally in rebounding and 29th in
Jordan DeMercy earned the Tigers' first POW honors this
past week as he started his GC career with a pair of double-doubles. He
followed that up with another double-double and has reached double figures in
scoring in the four games in the Orange & Black.
Georgetown improves to 14-2 on the season and 5-0 in
conference play. The team hits the road for a pair of conference games against
University of the Cumberlands and Lindsey Wilson.
