Men's Basketball - Thu, Feb. 2, 2012
Georgetown College men's basketball ended a two-game skid
in fine fashion Thursday against defending national champions University of
Pikeville, winning 74-49. The No. 12 Tigers came out strong and never let up,
something that has plagued them the past several games.
Four GC players tallied double-figures, led by Geral
Craig's 17. Allan Thomas had 14, Jordan DeMercy 13 and Aaron Morris 11.
"I just kept telling my guys to keep going," said GC head
coach Chris Briggs. "We just wanted to play all the way through for 40 minutes."
The Tigers (18-5, 8-3) held the No. 20 Bears (14-8, 6-5) to
just 26.3 percent from the field, while they blistered the nets at 50.8
percent. Morris was 5-of-6 from the field including a long two off a drive and
kick by Johonne Hamilton. The senior from Louisville had five points and five
assists to help fuel the GC offense.
Pikeville's Trevor Setty led all-scorers with 19 points,
while Chris Watson had 13.
GC returns to action 4 pm Saturday hosting University of
Virginia College at Wise.
