Georgetown College baseball rolls on and on and on,
staying undefeated Friday in its first home weekend series.
The Tigers (11-0) jumped out early and often on Lourdes
College, which is just starting its baseball program. GC scored six runs in the
first two innings, had eight by the end of the fourth and finished game one
victorious 11-0. Jason McGinnis picked up his third win of the season on the
hilling, pitching five innings and scattering four hits. The senior also struck
out five and only used 60 pitches. Chris Villalobos finished off the final two
innings, giving up one hit and striking out four on 26 pitches.
The Tigers had 10 hits themselves, led behind a 3-of-4
day by catcher Brian Smith. Smith also had two RBI. Randy Guite had two RBI on
a sacrifice bunt and sacrifice hit. David Higuera also added two RBI.
GC turned around in game two and Chase Ballinger picked
up his third win of the season pitching. The Tiger offense supported him with
10 hits as well. The senior went all five innings of the 12-2 win. He allowed
three hits and one earned run with eight strikeouts on 60 pitches.
Mike Steinke led off and led Georgetown going 2-for-3
with three runs scored and two RBI. Brian Conner was also 2-for-3 with two runs
scored and Taylor Payne went 1-for-3 with two runs scored and three RBI.
GC returns to action against Lourdes again Saturday. First
pitch of the doubleheader is set for 1 pm at Robert N. Wilson Field.
