Georgetown College men's and women's basketball team finished up their conference tournaments yesterday, but now must wait until Wednesday to learn national tournament seedings. Several other conferences will not wrap up until this evening and then all must announce final conference rankings in order to figure out final national rankings.
GC's women are currently ranked No. 17, the final rankings will be announced Wednesday followed by the announcing of tournament pairings. The Tigers will need an at-large bid, but with wins over several ranked opponents and a good ranking all season, should have no problem in getting into the tournament.Definitely joining them from the Mid-South Conference in Frankfort would be University of the Cumberlands and Shawnee State. Campbellsville University and Lindsey Wilson College could also receive an at-large bid.
On the men's side, GC has been ranked inside the top 15 all season. The Tigers currently sit at No. 12 and will hear the final ranking on Wednesday as well. Soon after the rankings are announced, national tournament brackets will be released.
Definitely joining them in Kansas City would be University of the Cumberlands and Lindsey Wilson College.
The women have not been to the national tournament since winning the MSC tournament in 2008-09, while the men are on a record setting 20-straight appearances and 30 overall.
