Women's Basketball - Fri, Mar. 30, 2012

Georgetown College women's basketball team had a banner season, highlighted by several Mid-South Conference postseason accolades and national academic honors.

The Tigers, who finished No. 11 in the postseason poll, have consistently been recognized for their academic achievements and nothing changed this season. Seven women - Jessica Waddle, Mikkah Rogers, Gina Beining, Devon Golden, Lindsay Fultz, Andrea Howard and Lizza Jonas - earned MSC All-Academic honors, the most representatives from any team in the league.

In order to be eligible, the student-athlete must earn a 3.25 or higher and be a sophomore or higher standing.

Four of those seven women - Waddle, Beining, Golden and Fultz - also earned Daktronics NAIA Scholar Athlete Honors, earning a 3.5 and junior or higher standing. Four is also the most from any MSC team.

Howard also earned First-Team All-Conference, following a breakout season. She averaged 15 points per game, shooting 39.6 percent from the field, and 6.2 rebounds per game. Waddle and Golden both earned All-Conference Honorable Mention.

Coach Andrea McCloskey rounded out the night by earning Co-Coach of the Year honors with University of the Cumberlands Missy Irvin.
