Danielle Buford had a phenomenal weekend meet at University of the Cumberlands, winning her individual races in record time and helping two relays to finish in the top five. The junior picked up the Mid-South Conference Track Athlete of the Week honors for the first time.

"Unfortunately, I could not be there to see it," said GC coach Betsy Laski, who just gave birth to her first child Sunday, "but Danielle is a great athlete and member of our team. She is a true leader on our team and dedicated to the process it takes to be a successful track athlete. I was so excited to hear how well she had done and that she is receiving the recognition she deserves."

The Louisville native won both her individual races in school record setting times. She garnered 20 of the teams' 85.5 overall points in those two races alone. She then anchored the 4x100-meter relay that finished third and ran the second leg of the 4x400-meter relay that finished fourth.

Buford gets another big test Friday as the Tigers head to Eastern Kentucky University for their annual invitational.
