Georgetown College baseball has been on a tear this season, piling up program first and looking for one more this weekend at the Mid-South Conference tournament.

The double elimination system starts Thursday with the Tigers (41-8, 18-5 MSC) at 10 am playing University of the Cumberlands (26-26, 8-13) at Campbellsville University. GC swept the Patriots this season at Williamsburg - 2-0, 5-2 and 8-7.

"It was a close series and one we really had for which we had to battle," said GC coach Micah Baumfeld. "We accomplished one goal of 40 wins this past week, now we have our sights on the conference title."

Georgetown is ranked for the first time ever, starting at No. 17 and climbing as high as No. 14 this past week. The team also picked up 40 wins for the first time and wants its first tournament title, securing a national tournament bid.

"We've been good about staying focused and that's what we need to do this weekend," Baumfeld said. "This is a crazy tournament with multiple games a day. Our depth in pitching will help, but we are going to need everyone to be on this weekend."

Thursday's games will be played at two locations - Campbellsville and Columbia (Lindsey Wilson College). Georgetown will be at CU for the duration of the tournament and will play a second game Thursday based on the outcome of the game with UC.
