Bridgette Allen becomes the sixth member for Georgetown College volleyball coach Nick Griffin's 2012 recruit class. The 5-foot-8 opposite hitter was a three-year starter for Coach Wanda Thompson at Warren County High School in Littleton, NC.

Allen has fought through adversity throughout her career; battling back from shoulder surgery that kept her sidelined her entire junior year and a knee injury that had her wearing a brace for seven months. Still Allen became a two-time All-Conference selection and was named her team MVP following her senior campaign. Allen was also nominated a team captain for the 2009 and 2011 seasons.

"Bridgette rounds out this recruiting class nicely," Griffin said. "She brings a tremendous work ethic to our team and might be one of the most competitive players I've come across. To battle back from injuries the way she has speaks volumes about her as both a player and a person."

Allen has played for Triangle Volleyball Club for six seasons, placing in the Top 10 at the Big South Qualifier in Atlanta in 2012 and fifth in the same tournament in 2010.

Her class valedictorian, she was also president of her high school's National Honor Society. Allen plans to major in biology at Georgetown and picked GC because she "fell in love with the school when she visited."
