Georgetown - Wed, Jun. 20, 2012
Georgetown College women's basketball is wrapping up
another successful team camp. The Fab Four finalist Tigers had 21 teams compete
in varsity, junior varsity or middle school team camp starting Monday afternoon
and concluding Thursday afternoon.
"It has been a really good week," said GC coach Andrea
McCloskey. "It's a chance for these high school and middle school athletes to
get together in game type situations. The pressures of competition are there,
but it is also open for more learning and growing as a team in an out-of-season
atmosphere. Even our current and future players have come to campus to help run
the event. It is a good chance for them to be on the other side of the ball a
bit as well as have some bonding time."
Two district rivals faced off mid-morning Wednesday as
Scott County High School battled Henry Clay High School. The Lady Cardinals
have ended the Lady Devils season two of the past three years.
Women's basketball camp is not the only game in town so
to speak. As summer starts, GC has been a buzz the past several weeks with
camps. Men's basketball coach Chris Briggs had his first successful team camp
as head coach. Football coach Bill Cronin kicked off his first round of camps
with the speed and agility individual camp Tuesday.
