For the second straight season, Georgetown College's volleyball team has earned American Volleyball Coaches Association Team Academic Award. The AVCA handed out a record-breaking 533 such honors, surpassing the 481 set a year ago.
"This is what we strive for - excellence on and off the court," said GC coach Nick Griffin. "To continually receive honors and recognitions for what we do as students, not just as athletes, makes me very proud of this team."
The award, first awarded in 1992-93, honors collegiate and high school volleyball teams that maintain a 3.30 cumulative team grade-point average. Georgetown had a 3.392 and is one of only 33 teams in the NAIA to be honored.
