Georgetown College baseball's Chad Richie is putting in some good work this summer with the Northwoods League's Thunder Bay Border Cats. The senior was named Second Team All-America, and he is not resting on his laurels.

"Chad and Tyler (Arthur) have been getting in some good work this summer," said GC baseball coach Micah Baumfeld. "Both had great seasons this past year, but know that if they don't keep improving then that hard work was for nothing."

Richie is 3-3 with a 4.34 earned run average in 31 games and 56 innings. He picked up his third win this past week in a 13-3 game over Duluth. He went two and a third innings with no runs, one hit and seven strikeouts.

The closer has 46 strikeouts on the season to just 19 walks with 65 hits. He pitched one inning Aug. 10 in an 8-1 win over Duluth as well. He allowed just one hit to the three batters he faced.

Tiger baseball looks to follow up its record-setting 2012 season this spring with the building blocks coming together in the fall. Georgetown will have its annual Orange & Black game, the game of returners verse newcomers and an alumni game, but it is adding a showdown with the GC softball team as well.

The ring ceremony for the 2012 Mid-South Conference Tournament championship will be before the first home football game Thursday, Sept. 6.
