Men's Basketball - Fri, Aug. 24, 2012

Georgetown College men's basketball Maurice Pearson will be trying out for Jezioro Tarnobrzeg, a Polish professional basketball team. He arrived in Poland yesterday.

Pearson helped the Tigers to an Elite Eight appearance this past season, averaging 15.2 points and 8.5 rebounds per game. He was named Third-Team All-America during his senior season. As a junior, Pearson averaged 11 ppg and 6.6 rpg as the Tigers made it back to the Fab Four.

"It's really exciting to see Mo get this opportunity," said GC coach Chris Briggs. "He was a staple on our team over the past several seasons."

The center from Maryland dealt with knee injuries most of his time at Georgetown, but has been able to get strong enough to try and continue his career at the next level. If he is signed he will be the 45th Tiger to play professionally.
