Georgetown College came out on a mission in the nightcap of the Rumpke Invitational. After dimissing the Tigers (5-2) first opponent in less than an hour, it dropped Union College (2-2) in straight games as well, 25-6, 25-17, 25-13.

"The energy in warm-up was just phenomenal and the team was ready to play all out," said GC coach Nick Griffin. "It did not matter who I put into the game."

After cruising through game one, the Bulldogs came out with a fire for a 6-3 lead. However, senior Rebekah Moore was determined to keep the momentum with Georgetown. She had multiple diving saves and one pancake as the Tigers eventually recaptured a lead it would never relinquish, 9-8.

Sophomores Caraline Maher and Allyson Wilbourn each tallied 10 kills, while sophomore Rachel Eubanks and freshman Corri Muha added eight each.

Lindsey Martindale recorded 28 assists, while Moore had 30 digs.

"We were clicking and it is exciting to see," Griffin said. "Even when Union was playing well early in the second set, we could just tell we wanted it more."

Georgetown returns to action in the Rumpke Invitational finale 10 am Saturday against Mid-South Conference foe Shawnee State University. Both teams went 2-0 on Friday against the Appalachian Athletic Conference.
