Georgetown College romped in the 4th Annual Rumpke Invitational, not dropping a set at Davis-Reid Alumni Gym. The Tigers (6-2) finished off Mid-South Conference foe Shawnee State University, 25-22, 25-15, 25-15 to wrap up the weekend. They also went 4-0 this past week.
The Bears (6-2) opened a slight early edge in all three sets, but the Tigers quickly responded and in set two and three rolled in the middle for an insurmountable lead. Freshman Corri Muha and sophomore Caraline Maher had seven kills each, while sophomore Rachel Eubanks added six. Freshman Lindsey Martindale (18) and sophomore Stephanie Gurren (11) led the way in assists, while senior defensive specialists Rebekah Moore and Lindsey Wise had 13 and 11 digs respectively.
GC's defense flexed its muscle again as the Bears managed just .048 hitting percentage with 26 kills out of 104 attempts.
The Tigers return to action 7 pm Tuesday as they welcome in new MSC opponent Cumberland University.
