Georgetown, Ky. - Former Georgetown College star Demetrius Guions has signed a contract to play professionally with the 89ers in Sendai, Japan.

The 6-5 guard from Radcliff, Ky. transferred to Georgetown from North Carolina  A & T with two years of eligibility remaining and was named an NAIA All-American each of his two years in the league.  In addition, Guions is a two-time Mid-South All-Conference player, appeared in two NAIA National Tournaments, making it to the Fab Four in 07-08, and was an integral part of the Tigers' perfect 31-0 regular season, also in 07-08.

Guions finalized his agreement with the Sendai 89ers last week. The team is a part of the Japan-BJ League and last season went 31-21 and finished 3rd in their division.  Sendai was eliminated in the quarterfinals of the Eastern Conference Tournament to end the year.

As a senior, Guions averaged 12.3 points per game and 4.8 rebounds.  He added 42 steals and 23 blocks for the Tigers, who finished the year 27-5.

Guions will report to Japan next week. He is the 39th Tiger coached by Happy Osborne to play professionally.
