Patrick Dougherty had six tackles, five for loss with
three sacks, leading the No. 3 Tiger defense in yet another solid game this
past Saturday. For his efforts the junior has been named Mid-South Conference
Defensive Player of the Week, following teammate Josh Downing.
This is Dougherty's first weekly honor as the stingy
defense continues to hold opponents to an under two touchdown average.
Georgetown College also forced Lindsey Wilson College into -3 yards rushing
after going for 309 yards the week before against University of Pikeville.
"When you stop someone's running attack you really change
the complexity of the game," said GC coach Bill Cronin. "I thought Pat had a
great game. Five tackles for loss with three sacks really helped us to set the
tone and shut down the run."
Georgetown returns to action 1:30 pm Saturday against
Kentucky Christian University (2-1). The Knights are coming off a 39-0 loss to
NCAA foe University of Northern Alabama. Catch all the action live at Toyota
Stadium on iHigh Field or on the internet at www.ihigh.com/georgetowncollege.
