Women's Soccer - Mon, Sep. 17, 2012

Georgetown College women's soccer player Kelsey Givens earns her first Mid-South Conference Defensive Player of the Week honor announced Monday afternoon by the league office. The freshman from Richmond, Ky. stonewalled a pair of opponents this past week.

She started with five saves and no goals allowed in 90 minutes against NCAA Division II Kentucky Wesleyan. She had a repeat performance against MSC foe Shawnee State University - five saves, no goals in 90 minutes.

"She is having a great start to her career at Georgetown," said Tiger coach and former GC goalie Leah Crews Castleman. "Her ability is off the charts."

In three games, she has allowed just two goals in 286 minutes in goal with 18 saves. She is second in the conference in goals against average - 0.63.

This is the first player of the week honor for the women's soccer team and only the second week offensive and defensive players have been named by the MSC.
