Caitlin Williams earns Mid-South Conference Defensive Player of the Week as Georgetown College pitched two more shutouts this past week. The senior anchors a core that has allowed just two goals all season and not one since Sept. 8.

"We were a bit concerned about the defense coming into the season," Williams said. "But playing center back is what I did my freshman year. We are really coming together back there, and we set a goal of keeping teams scoreless."

The Tigers (4-1) blanked league opponents University of Pikeville and University of Rio Grande. Out of 16 shots this past week, only three were on frame. The RedStorm did not get one shot on frame Saturday.

"It is about having athletes," said GC coach Leah Crews Castleman. "I've been able to move my players around. They are really intelligent and working well together."

This is Williams' second player of the week honors, first on defensive. In 2010, she was offensive player of the week following a hat trick against University of Pikeville. And for the second week in a row someone from GC's defense earned the award. Goalie Kelsey Givens picked up the honors this past week.

GC is 3-0 in the conference, tied on top with Cumberland University.
