
"We all knew we were right there with teams," said Tiger coach Derek Willis. "Our conference is brutal with the top two teams in the nation and a team receiving votes. But when we've played those opponents, everyone talks about how our record doesn't reflect what they see on the field.
"We just needed a game where we weren't chasing it. Today Taylor got a good shot off and later he assisted on the second goal as Tyler Whitehouse scored. It was a good trip for us."
Whitehouse scored not 10 minutes later for the cushion. The Tigers were outshot by the Rams (5-7, 1-3), but Stefan Iverson came up with the saves and pitched his first shutout.
Georgetown returns to action Saturday at future Great Midwest Athletic Conference foe Cedarville University.
