Women's Soccer - Sun, Oct. 7, 2012
Georgetown College women's soccer might have had the most
brutal 19 hour span they will ever have. The Tigers (6-3, 5-2 Mid-South
Conference) started with a late night game against No. 3 Lindsey Wilson
College. After wrapping that up a little after 10 pm Wednesday, GC had a 6 am
bus ride to another league foe in Bluefield College. After the five-hour ride,
the women had to play the Rams at 1 pm.
"Who made that schedule," said Tiger coach Leah Crews
Castleman with a laugh. "I'm not sure what I was thinking, but I couldn't be
prouder of how this team handled it all. I think it shows our passion and drive
Following a tough 4-0 setback to the Blue Raiders
(10-2-1, 7-0), GC responded with two early goals against BC (5-6, 1-3) and the
eventual win, 2-1.
Anna Ayers and Alex Harbowy scored the goals and Bluefield slipped one in
just before the half for the final margin.
The Tigers enjoy a much longer break now before returning
to action 6 pm Wednesday against Union College. The game will be at Toyota
Stadium on iHigh Field.
