Georgetown College's volleyball team reclaimed the top spot in the Mid-South Conference finishing a perfect 15-0 in league play. The Tigers were picked to be third in the MSC this season, but only dropped four sets in the 15 matches and head into the postseason ranked No. 11 nationally.
"We had to earn our respect back and I think we did that," said GC coach Nick Griffin. "Now we want to focus and take care of the business at hand this week."
The MSC Tournament moves from Frankfort Convention Center, where it has been held since 2008, back to the MidAmerican Sports Center in Louisville. The Tigers (31-3, 15-0) play Bluefield College (16-21, 4-10) in the quarterfinal round 3 pm Friday. If they win, they advance to the semifinals at noon on Saturday and then the finals are set for 5 pm Saturday.
GC beat the Rams 25-9, 25-11, 25-16 in the second crossover of the season at University of Virginia College at Wise.
