As anticipated the undefeated Tiger football team retained the NAIA Coaches' Poll top spot in the final rankings released Sunday afternoon. Georgetown College (10-0) enters its 18th all-time NAIA Football Championship Series, following the team's 18th Mid-South Conference championship and ninth undefeated season.
GC will host a first round game Saturday, Nov. 17. Kickoff is set for 3:30 pm and is scheduled to air on Fox College Sports with the possibility for re-airing on Fox Sports South at a later date. With the No. 1 seed, the Tigers have earned the right to host every round they are in until the Dec. 13 finals in Rome, Ga.
The pairings for the 16-team playoff will be announced at 4 pm Sunday. The teams are selected by the following process. The highest rated independent team (provided it is ranked in the top 20) will also receive an automatic berth. The remaining at-large teams will be awarded based on the final rating.
