Vic Moses returned to action Tuesday night for Georgetown College men's basketball team and led the way with 24 points on 12-of-14 shooting. The No. 3 Tigers got a huge road win over rival St. Catharine, 90-80, evening up their Mid-South Conference record at 1-1. GC improves to 5-1 overall this season.
Deondre McWhorter continued his solid play, chipping in 19 points. Allan Thomas had some big threes in the first half to finish with 14 points. Mychal Parker also had 14 points and Garel Craig rounded out the double-digit scoring with 11. The guard also dished out seven assists, while Thomas led the team in rebounding with nine.
The Patriots led early, but a 7-2 run with a three from Thomas and a pair of buckets from McWhorter, but the Tigers ahead. They would eventually lead by five at the break, 39-34, and never looked back.
Marquis Lee scored 22 to lead SCC, while Omar Skinner had 19. Kevin Kornegay (16) and DeShawn Mitchell (11) rounded out the top scorers for the Patriots.
GC has little turnaround time for the 19th annual Central Bank Jim Reid Classic. The Tigers play 4 pm Friday against No. 22 Martin Methodist. The pair squared off less than a month ago in Tennessee. The RedHawks took the Tigers to overtime, before GC took control for the win.
Life University and UC Clermont tip things off with a 2 pm game. The winners of both games Friday meet 4 pm Saturday for the championship, while the losers meet at 2 pm in the consolation game.
