Georgetown College head coach Happy Osborne marked this date at the beginning of the season as a game that would tell him something about how his squad was "coming along."

He got his answer Tuesday night with a 78-62 home win over No. 3 Union University.

Union led most of first half and pulled out to a nine point lead almost halfway through the period. But Georgetown kept chipping away and a three-pointer by Matt Walls with 54 seconds left gave the Tigers the lead for good. Jerry Turner followed with a shot at the buzzer for a halftime score of 37-33.

Walls' defensive play was superb, grabbing three steals and a Tarzan-like blocked shot of Tacuma Alexander with 7:10 to go sent the Georgetown faithful roaring.

Georgetown's largest lead was 17 with six minutes to play when Kyle Saxton hit a three pointer in the corner to make it 65-48 and the Tigers never looked back.

Senior Demetrius Guions led the Tigers with 20 and grabbed seven rebounds followed by freshman Vic Moses with 10 points.

For the Bulldogs, Keith Tolliver was seven of nine from the field, including four of five from three-point land and finished with 20 points.

Georgetown improved to 10-1 on the year while Union dropped to 8-3.
