Georgetown College baseball dropped another close one, 2-1, to the No. 7 Eagles of Embry-Riddle in the opening weekend in Daytona, Fla. The No. 20 Tigers (0-2) started hot as Justin Moore got on and EJ Murray singled him in for a 1-0 lead.

Matt Smith hung on to that advantage until the bottom of the third when Embry was able to push across the tying run. Neither team had much offense throughout the game and it was not until the bottom of the sixth that the home team struck again to score the winning run.

"I think we learned a lot about ourselves today," said GC coach Micah Baumfeld. "We had solid pitching against a top 10 team. Our bats will come to life.

"To drop both games by a run that's not a bad start. Let's see how we do tomorrow. We get Embry one more time and then finish this off with a game against Webber International."

The Tigers start play Saturday at 10 am.
