Georgetown College's baseball team moved above 500 Friday afternoon as it handed No. 24 Madonna University an 8-3 loss in Dayton, Tenn. The No. 20 Tigers (3-2) opened up a 4-0 lead in the top of third. The Crusaders (0-1) rallied to trail 4-3 in the bottom and never got any closer.
"This was a good start to this weekend," said GC coach Micah Baumfeld. "Our offense is starting to wake up and Tyler (Arthur) had a solid performance on the mound."
The All-American sophomore went the full seven innings, scattering seven hits and giving up two earned runs with six strikeouts and one walk.
Martin Lemus started his GC career off with a bang, going 3-for-4 from the plate with a homerun and three RBI. David Higuera was 2-for-3 with two runs scored and an RBI. EJ Murray went 2-for-4 with a run scored and three RBI. As a team, Georgetown had 13 hits and eight RBI for all eight runs.
