Georgetown College women's basketball battled hard Saturday, getting back to its winning ways over Mid-South Conference foe University of Virginia College at Wise. The No. 13 Tigers (17-8, 11-5 MSC) needed a first half rally, but then never looked back behind a balanced attack.

Senior Devon Golden got things rolling in the first half with 10 of her 13 points, while freshman Jessica Foster flexed her muscle off the bench in the second half with a team- and career-high 14 points. Lizza Jonas had 12 and Andrea Howard and Devanny King each added 11 points. Golden and King had double-doubles with 12 and 11 rebounds respectively.

"After the rough outing Thursday it was good to see them come together and fight for this win," said GC coach Andrea McCloskey. "Wise is a tough team and it is always a battle. I'm glad we were up to that challenge today."

Kourtney Tyra's shooting woes continued, but the junior dished out 12 assists to go with her six rebounds.

MaKenzie Cluesman led all scorers with 18 points, while Katie Lester had 12 and Chelsea Cluesman 11.

The Tigers return to action 2 pm Saturday hosting Bluefield College.
