Men's Basketball - Tue, Mar. 19, 2013
Georgetown College men's basketball plays in fifth Division I Men's Basketball National Tournament finals 8:30 pm Tuesday against Southwestern Assemblies of God University. The No. 13 Tigers (27-8) are in search of their second national crown, the first came in 1998.
If you cannot make it to Kansas City, Mo. there are several viewing options in the central Kentucky area. Galvin's and Applebee's in Georgetown have agreed to carry the game as well as Buffalo Wild Wings off Todds Road in Lexington.
An on campus viewing party is also in the works for the WOW Grille.
As details become available, tweets and Facebook messages will be sent out.
The Tigers reached the championship game by erasing halftime deficits in both the quarterfinals and semifinals. Garel Craig gave Georgetown its first lead of the game Monday night in the Fab Four with just more than minute remaining and another lead with 35 seconds showing. Louisiana State University Shreveport took its last lead with 8.6 remaining as Tevin Hall hit both free throws. However, Craig dropped off a pass to Monty Wilson. The junior stepped back away from traffic and drained the dagger that ended the Pilots season and punched GC's championship card for the first time since 2000.
"That's what he does," said Tiger coach Chris Briggs. "He's a gamer, and he wants the ball in crunch time."
