Men's Outdoor Track & Field - Wed, Apr. 3, 2013

Keith Arutoff is battling injury, but he is not letting that stop him from being one of the best throwers in the Mid-South Conference Track & Field competitions.

The senior, who is in need of Tommy John surgery, has yet to lose in the first three meets of the season and this past weekend at the Lindsey Wilson Invitational won the hammer and discus to earn MSC Field Athlete of the Week. This is his second time earning the award in his career and first this season.

The Owenton, Ky. native threw 43.14 in the discus to beat the 25-man field. He followed that up with a new personal record in the hammer. His distance of 48.73 edged out his old mark set a year ago and beat his closest competitor by .7 meters. His 20 points in the two events helped the Tigers to a fifth place overall finish in the team competition.
