Georgetown College baseball opened a five-run lead and then had to hang on Tuesday at Robert N. Wilson Field. Stepping outside of conference play, the Tigers hosted Union College for a 6-4 win.
Ryan Serrato got the start on the mound and picked up the win. GC coach Micah Baumfeld then used a variety of pitchers down the stretch before calling in Chris Villalobos to shut the door. The senior picked up the save, allowing no runs off two hits in his two innings of work.
"After the way we played in Barbourville, I was really pleased to see the guys step up tonight," Baumfeld said. "It was important to battle. We got just enough runs and pulled it out."
Justin Moore went 3-for-4 with a run scored, while TC Oneal, EJ Murray and Tanner Baldwin were each 2-for-4. Murray scored a run, Oneal scored two runs and Baldwin scored one and drove in three.
The Tigers (29-14) return to action 4 pm Wednesday hosting Miami-Hamilton in a doubleheader.
