KINGSPORTS, Tenn. – Georgetown College's baseball continued its hot hitting and Tyler Arthur shutdown the No. 11 Cumberland University (38-17-1)
The No. 19 Tigers (35-16) scored three runs in the bottom of the first. They added a few more insurance runs, but it was enough for Arthur in the 7-2 win in the elimination bracket. Georgetown advances to another elimination game 7 pm Saturday evening, weather permitting, against the winner between University of Rio Grande and St. Catharine.
The Tigers batted around in inning one, with six singles. Martin Lemus got the scoring going with a RBI single. He added his second homerun of the tournament with a solo shot to left in the second. Georgetown added another three runs in the sixth.
Justin Moore, three; Lemus, two; Ryan Serrato, three; and EJ Murray, two, all got multiple hits. Arthur pitched a gem, going the distance with 11 strikeouts. He gave up a solo homerun in the top of the third and then the Bulldogs pushed another run across in the eighth.
