Georgetown College women's soccer will have a familiar face returning to assist the team this fall. Tiger athletics hired recent graduate and former Tiger Caitlin Williams as the assistant for coach Leah Crews Castleman.
"I'm thrilled that Caitlin has decided to join us for a sixth season as a part of the Georgetown College women's soccer program, this time as a member of the coaching staff," Castleman said. "Caitlin brings a wealth of knowledge to the program as she has played every position and has quite a bit of coaching experience at the club level. She is a natural leader, a person who can inspire others through her love of the game, excitement for training and passion for winning.
"More importantly, she is a person of very high character and will continue to serve as an outstanding role model for the players. There are hands down no other potential candidates who love this program as much as Caitlin; she will put her heart and soul into every second she spends working with this team."
Williams will return to Georgetown with a wider appreciate for the game and for life in general after having spent the past semester and part of the summer studying abroad in South America. Part of her decision to return meant she also had to turn down the opportunity to play for a professional team in South America.
"The Tigers are my real team," Williams said. "Both were great opportunities that opened up at the same time. It was hard to say no to extending my playing days, but I had to assess what was more important and to have the opportunity to be back in Georgetown wins hands down."
The Murray, Ky. native was a starter all four years at Georgetown, despite fighting through multiple injuries that might have otherwise derailed some players. She was four-time Mid-South Conference All-Academic and three time NAIA Daktronics Scholar Athlete. She was three-time MSC All-Conference honorable mention, two-time GC Defensive Player of the Year and 2008 GC Female Rookie of the Year. In 2009, Williams earned the MSC Champions of Character Award. She also won Offensive Player of the Week and Defensive Player of the Week honors once.
