Georgetown College men's and women's cross country runners swept the Mid-South Conference weekly honors.
On the women's side it was sophomore Tayler Godar picking up the honor. She ran 19:46 over eight hills on a 5k course to earn third place. She helped her team to a second place finish overall.
"She was pushing for the lead throughout most of the race, but this was only our women's second race of the season so I think near the end the two runners from Centre were able to push it out," McDaniel said. "However, she is a very exciting runner and I expect to see a lot out of her this year."
Junior Sam Heaton finished in Top 10 despite running sick at the Centre Invitational. He ran the first 8k of the year over a very hilly course – 13 hills – all while battling illness. He finished in 28 minutes and 27 seconds.
"He ran a great race and really gutted it out," said Tiger coach Todd McDaniel. "That was a really tough course early on, but could also be really good for all of us in conditioning wise."
This is the first time for either runner to receive the honor.
