Georgetown College men's soccer battled No. 5 University of Rio Grande and came out just on the short end of the scoreboard 2-0. The RedStorm (5-1, 1-0 Mid-South Conference) scored late in the first half and then found the back of the net again in the first five minutes of the second half.
"We played awesome," said GC coach Derek Willis. "I was really pleased with our effort. Playing a team like Rio can be so different from everyone else we see, the adjustments can be difficult. But, we held our own on defense and when the attack was there we pushed and got chances."
Several solid crosses gave the Tigers a look at a goal, but Rio thwarted the chance to keep it a shutout.
Georgetown returns to action 2 pm Saturday in Ohio against Cincinnati Christian.
