Men's Cross Country - Sat, Nov. 9, 2013

Georgetown College men's cross country team looks to make noise Saturday morning in the Mid-South Conference meet, hoping to get some guys high enough to qualify for nationals in a few weeks.

Before the gun went off in Rio Grande, Ohio though, the Tigers flexed its brain muscle. GC tied Campbellsville University for the most All-Academic honorees – six. Peyton Anderson, Chris Bartlett, Brad Cundiff, Joe Durbin, Sam Heaton and Nick Slucher all earned a 3.25 or better and are sophomore or higher in class status.

"We take each part of student-athlete serious," said GC coach Todd McDaniel, a Tiger alum. "It isn't easy, but I've also been where they are. I think that helps. I know what can be asked of them and how to help them."

The men have battled injuries and illnesses, but in the final two races of the season were seeing racers tally personal bests. Watch Twitter and the web site for the results later this afternoon.
