Georgetown College volleyball knew it clinched a return to the NAIA National Tournament with a win Saturday in the finals of the Mid-South Conference Tournament. However, what the No. 12 Tigers did not know is they opponent.
Monday afternoon the NAIA announced the 12 First Round sites and Georgetown will host Lourdes University Saturday at Davis-Reid Alumni Gym. Match time is still to be determined.
"Lourdes is a hot team right now," said GC coach Nick Griffin. "They upset No. 20 Davenport and No. 23 Cornerstone in their conference tournament. They are a dangerous team right now, but we have to play our game and play with the intensity and determination we did this past weekend."
Georgetown beat Lourdes back in September, 25-15, 25-18, 25-11.
This will be the Tigers 16th all-time trip to the national tournament, while Lourdes is making its first.
Keep checking the GC athletic web site for match time and how to follow the game.
